Cody Rhodes promised not to fight for the AEW title after losing to Chris Jericho
Cody Rhodes lost his chance at winning the AEW Championship against Chris Jericho a while back, and that had one major stipulation.
Rhodes promised that should he lose that match, he would never get a chance at the title again. That seems to be a little extreme given that AEW is just over a year or so old, and Rhodes is one of their top stars.
Wrestling doesn’t always stick to the said storylines and things change. One fan questioned Cody if he was going to fight for the title again, which is held by Jon Moxley.
However, the AEW VP said he was sticking to his word and isn’t changing it:
Cody had also shared a lengthy message after losing the match against Jericho, and it seems he will stick to it.
However, Rhodes could still pick up another title on AEW.
Moxley has been a great champion since picking up the title from Jericho, however, Rhodes has another big match soon.
He reached the final of the TNT Championship but will face Lance Archer. Archer made his debut on AEW a few weeks back and his mentor has been Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts.
Archer is being touted as a destroyer and he claimed he would do a number on Cody when they do meet.
The final will take place in a couple of weeks, and it will be interesting to see how it goes. Rhodes has been incredible for AEW but Archer has dominated all his rivals so far.
Cody might not win the AEW title for a while, but he can put his name in the history books by picking up this crown.
