Tay Conti took on Serena Deeb on AEW Dynamite
The NWA Women’s championship was on the line this week on AEW as Tay Conti took on champion Serena Deeb. The fight was one of the best of the card.
It featured a number of sleek moves and counters as Conti got to display her actual martial art skills in the match.
Conti, who is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, looked impeccable inside the ring. She had the upper hand for most of the fight but Deeb was not to be denied a title win.
The former NXT talent was close to finishing the fight with the Gory knee strike finisher, but Deeb countered. What followed next was a Detox slam to end the fight around the 10 minute mark.
This was definitely the best fight that Conti has had in the promotion. And, AEW commentator Jim Ross made sure to tell her that on Twitter.
Former WWE commentator Jim Ross took to his social media account to congratulate Conti on her “best match in AEW yet”.
Tay Conti is slowly making waves in AEW ever since she joined the promotion in September 2020. The 25-year-old was with WWE ever since she signed a developmental contract in 2016.
There, she became the first Brazilian female wrestler to compete at WrestleMania, when Taynara Conti made an appearance at WrestleMania 34 in the Women’s Battle Royale.
She did not really make a big impression at the promotion though. And with Covid-19 hitting the promotion financially, she was cut off the roster.
WWE released the Brazilian in April 2020, and she was subject to the 90-day no-compete clause. At the end of it, she started negotiating with AEW, where she now currently wrestles.
