Joey Janela takes a hilarious dig after WWE reveal names of Retribution members

AEW star Joey Janela saw the funny side of the Retribution names as revealed on this week’s Raw

It is fair to say that the war between AEW and WWE isn’t going to end anytime soon.

While WWE has taken some shots at the new promotion, AEW has been much more aggressive during shows and some of their stars have directly hit out at WWE.

Chris Jericho has called out the WWE several times in the past while new signing Miro, formerly Rusev, hit out at the glass ceiling in his old promotion.

WWE, for their part, face a battle in the ratings but don’t have any competition on Mondays. Raw is the flagship show for WWE but its ratings haven’t been all that great.

It did get a bump when Retribution made an appearance a while back and WWE revealed some of the member names on this show.

While NXT stars Dominik Dijakovic, Dio Maddin and Shane Thorne are the male members, Mia Yim and Mercedes Martinez are the females in the group.

The names of the three men were also revealed, and that led to some jokes on the interview.

It’s a rap group

Joey Janela is one of the funniest talents on the AEW roster. He is also brilliant in the ring, though he hasn’t been fighting for the top titles yet.

However, Janela had a hilarious take on the three Retribution names shared. The men are called T-Bar, Mace and Slapjack for some reason, and the AEW star claimed this was a rap group from the 90s.

WWE certainly missed a spot with this as they could have kept the regular names of the stars involved.

They also dropped the ball when it was confirmed that the Retribution members were given contracts despite the havoc they caused on the show.

AEW has been winning the battle over NXT for a while and WWE just wasted one of their best stories with the Retribution reveal.
