Jungle Boy shared an incredible message despite losing to Cody Rhodes
AEW superstar Jungle Boy reacted to losing incredible TNT title to Cody Rhodes.
In last week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, a pitched battle was held to determine Cody’s first challenger for the TNT Championship.
The match was excellent and saw both wrestlers give it their all, with Cody coming out as the winner when he narrowly got the win after spiking Jungle Boy with a Cross Rhodes.
Cody immediately took the boy from the jungle down with a front facelock but he got to the ropes quickly to break the hold.
Cody hit a Side Headlock Takeover but Jungle Boy rolled him over into a one-count. The American Nightmare managed to hang on to the headlock but Jungle Boy fought up to his feet and shoves him into the ropes.
Eventually, Boy went for a Lariat but Cody countered it into a CrossRhodes for the pin. However, even in defeat, Jungle Boy had some great words for Cody:
“I didn’t win it, but I’m happy. @americannightmarecody has gone above and beyond, and out of his way to be there for me, both at work, and in real life. This was the one I’ve wanted since day one, and I can’t wait to do it again. Thank you for EVERYTHING.”
It was announced Marq Quen will now face Cody on next week’s show, but Quen was not the original opponent that AEW had planned for.
Fenix was in line for a title shot next, but he’s not yet ready for in-ring action due to an ankle injury.
Fenix was pulled from the Casino Ladder Match at last month’s Double or Nothing for the same injury. Once word came down that Fenix wouldn’t be able to wrestle next Wednesday, AEW had to go back and edit the references out.
