CM Punk made his much-awaited AEW debut on Friday Night
CM Punk kicked off AEW Rampage: The First Dance with a bang, walking out to Cult of Personality, even as the crowd went wild.
The former WWE Champion returned to the wrestling ring after more than 7 years.
No sooner did he arrive, than he stated that he had some scores to settle in the locker room, before proceeding to call out young wrestler Darby Allin for a match on the 5th of September.
Punk also announced free ice cream bars for the fans while they leave the stadium.
After months of teasing and flirting with the possibility of signing for the promotion, Punk was there at the United Center, in the flesh, sitting in his trademark cross-legged pose, at the center of the ring.
His arrival to the promotion was met with plenty of reactions on social media. The Internet went wild just like the crowd at the United Center went.
Former UFC heavyweight champion and current commentator Daniel Cormier who is a big fan of professional wrestling took to Twitter to react to the same.
Just like everyone else was, DC was excited too.
He wrote:
“This was absolutely crazy!!! Punk Is back!!!! What a Pop from the crowd @CMPunk.”
Justin Gaethje was excited as well
Top-ranked UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje was excited for Punk’s signing as well.
Quote tweeting Cormier’s response to Punk’s arrival, Gaethje responded with a fire emoji on his Twitter account.
Punk has got long-term plans with the AEW and is expected to stay in the promotion for a long time.
