Kenny Omega responds to Buddy Murphy wanting a match outside WWE with the AEW star
WWE superstar Buddy Murphy has been trying to keep his name in circulation in the WWE Universe recently.
The Australian reached his peak in the second half of 2020 with his win over Seth Rollins and King Corbin. But since December 2020, his appearances on the show have reduced drastically.
And earlier this week, Murphy hosted a Q&A session on his Instagram account. One of his fans wanted to know which non-WWE star did he want to fight the most.
He replied with “Kenny Omega“. Not a surprise, really, considering he is probably the biggest name in pro wrestling outside WWE.
The former WWE cruiserweight champion then got a reply from Omega. A fan brought Murphy’s response to the Canadian’s notice.
And ‘The Best Bout machine’ responded by praising Murphy and recalling how the two almost play Call of Duty together once.
The tweet read:
“Murphy is the type of athlete I enjoy watching. Be cool to mix it up with him. Little known fact is that I almost played COD with him. I think Danny Limelight stole his spot. (Not surprising knowing what I know now about him)”
If Murphy is to ever fight Omega, it seems his best option for that would be to join AEW. Because Omega is pretty much the face of that promotion.
The current AEW Champion is booked strongly over there while Murphy is struggling for relevance on the Blue brand.
His last appearance on the promotion was in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royale at WrestleMania 37 on the special SmackDown episode before the PPV.
Nevertheless, a fight between the two would be a treat to watch. Murphy’s physical prowess and Omega’s agility would probably make it a match to remember. But it is one that will not happen anytime soon.
