Lio Rush who is ready to leave AEW has claimed that he is a free agent
After appearing in AEW at Double or Nothing 2021 during the Casino Battle Royal as the Joker, Rush announced his retirement from professional wrestling due to some health reasons.
Lio Rush appeared on Dynamite soon after, though. This was followed by the announcement that “Lio Rush is All Elite” as he signed a new deal with AEW, but now he has revealed on social media that he is departing from AEW just four months after signing a new agreement with the company.
Lio took to Twitter and posted a picture of him with all the information regarding being a free agent.
“I’m a free agent.”
AEW Star Lio Rush was one of the prominent voices who criticised AEW President Tony Khan
Lio had a massive public spat with former AEW star Big Swole. He took to social media and demanded an apology from Khan before issuing a statement where he explained that he has since spoken to Tony Khan and Megha Parekh and discussed their “end“endeavours to further understand the struggles of the black community”. He went on to say that he is proud to work for Khan and AEW.
Rush will compete at the WRLD on GCW when Game Changer Wrestling emanates from Hammerstein Ballroom on the 23rd of January. He will also ve a part of the Grab The Brass Ring ladder match on a show that will feature recently returned Jon Moxley in the main event defending his GCW Championship against Homicide.
This was the statement issued by Lio Rush,
“I want this to be clear. I do not consider this to be a diversity issue, and I at no point have thought or said that AEW or Tony is racist. We can all clearly see that wrestling as a whole and the AEW roster is perpetually diverse. The issue at hand was a racial insensitivity issue. Having spoken to Tony and Megah, we have discussed the endeavours to further understand the struggles of the black community. I am grateful to be able to understand more about Tony and Megah’s own ethnic backgrounds and glad they are actively seeking input from an African American perspective. I am proud to work for a boss and company that try to make these strides in social equality. I look forward to working with Tony to keep making steps towards positive change.I pray that 2022 is a year of positive change in all aspects.
Happy New Year and GOD BLESS
