Buddy Murphy could be following Malakai Black’s footsteps into AEW
Malakai Black, known as Aleister Black during his WWE days, was the latest star to join AEW.
However, this came as a shock to many as the former NXT champion made his AEW debut just 30-days after being released.
WWE normally has a 90-day non-compete clause but they seem to have made an error with Black’s contract.
That turned out to be a blessing for AEW and Black knocked out both Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson on his debut.
While this is a huge deal for AEW, there seems to be another star keen on joining the company. AEW already has many former WWE stars in Rhodes, Miro, Jon Moxley, The Big Show and Mark Henry, but Buddy Murphy has now called out Black.
The pair had a huge rivalry when they were moved to the main roster, and it seems Black hasn’t forgotten about this.
Murphy was referring to Black continuing to have a different coloured right eye after a storyline in WWE.
However, Black referred to Murphy with his real name, so there could be something in the works.
It will be interesting to see if Murphy is the next released WWE star to join AEW. Braun Strowman has been linked with a move to the company but Murphy joining would be something too.
The Australian had some excellent matches during his short stint on the main roster. But, as is the case with many NXT stars moving up, WWE just had no idea of what to do with them.
Black and Murphy can bring the house down if they are paired, but we will have to see the waiting game for the Aussie to show up on another promotion, possibly.
