Cody Rhodes has been defending the TNT title against all comers on AEW
AEW star Cody Rhodes might be the current TNT champion, but he isn’t taking the belt for granted.
Rhodes defeated Lance Archer to win the title in a gruelling match. However, the American Nightmare has ensured that any AEW star can challenge for the title.
Rhodes has defended his title against Marc Quen and Jungle Boy in recent weeks. Both clashes have been incredible with Rhodes being taken to the limit.
Boy and Quen also were incredible and Rhodes will defend his title next against Jake Hager at Fyter Fest.
These set of matches seem to have caught the eye of Mark Henry. He was speaking on the Busted Open podcast and highlighted that AEW has been doing some great work too:
“I love what Cody is doing on AEW. Every week, it seems like he is coming to the ring with a different guy.
“Somebody new and making them. Because the match that he had with Marc Quen was, it wasn’t a match where you go ‘This guy is going to battle the best and come out on top’.
“Because I didn’t see him as that guy, but after about five minutes, him and Cody going at it, I was a believer. I mean, he is giving people the opportunity to shine in front of an audience where they might not have gotten that opportunity a year ago or even six months ago.”
AEW doing the work
Cody is one of the top stars on AEW but the rest of the roster has been picking up the game too. Henry was also impressed by the women doing extremely well recently while he also had great words for Chris Jericho.
Jon Moxley has been incredible since joining AEW and the ratings don’t lie. Although AEW isn’t hitting a million viewers on Wednesdays on TV, they are still beating WWE NXT consistently.
AEW also has had some fun matches with the Stadium Stampede one, and it will be interesting to see what else is on offer in the promotion.
Cody promised he would never challenge for the AEW world title ever again. However, he is elevating the TNT title, and his rivals, regularly thanks to his open challenge.
