We may have the AEW version of The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels on our hands
Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker is probably the greatest WWE wrestling rivalry of all time. The two fought in memorable battles, none more famous than the one at WrestleMania 25.
The two got engrossed in a feud over The Deadman’s undefeated streak. It was also stated then that The Undertaker had never beaten the HBK in a singles match.
The Undertaker went on to win that fight, in what is now considered as one of the greatest wrestling fights of all time.
And speaking on this week’s latest episode of the Busted Open podcast, former WWE wrestler Mark Henry posits that one AEW rivalry might replicate that historic feud in the future.
He starts off by saying that Sammy Guevara will be a big star in the future, and that he is just getting started.
“He is too exciting and too charismatic to be a boring-a** heel. He’s got to be a babyface, and I see it on the horizon, I see it coming. He’s making those moves.”
The World’s Strongest Man then speculates that Guevara will be on a growth curve, similar to that of someone like Michaels, and will be in a historic feud with heel-extraordinaire MJF.
“The fans, we’re the ones who benefit because in the future we’re gonna see, Sammy Guevara and MJF, fight for years and years. And it’s going to be like ‘Taker-Shawn Michaels.”
Guevara and MJF are both young stars who are probably the two most exciting wrestlers on the newly-formed promotion.
If AEW wants to build something like WWE, it has to pick and choose what wrestlers it wants to build its foundation on.
And the duo is perfect for this. The next Undertaker vs Michaels? Not quite sure. But if it carries on for a few more years, it would be iconic in its own right.
