Matt Hardy was busted open on AEW after a botch from Sammy Guevara

Matt Hardy has continued his war of words with Sammy Guevara after this week’s attack.

Hardy was in the middle of the ring when Guevara came out and attacked the veteran. Hardy was also laid out on a table and Guevara threw a chair at him.

Normally, the chair would be a folding one and the maximum damage would be to the hands of the star. While Hardy blocked the chair shot, this wasn’t a regular one, and it didn’t fold.

It hit the veteran and he was busted open quite badly. The medics had to work overtime to fix the wound, but there has been a lot said about this.

While Guevara and AEW received a lot of heat for the segment, the blame lies on both parties. There didn’t seem to be a folding chair for Guevara to use for this segment but then again, he could have improvised as the final part of the segment saw Guevara sending Hardy through a table.

Hardy promises revenge

Hardy and his wife, Reby, have been on a rampage on social media regarding this botch. The pair have called out Guevara several times and the veteran had another update ahead of the next AEW Dynamite.

Hardy promised to make Guevara pay with interest and claimed he would be causing a lot of havoc on AEW:

Hardy vs Guevara should be an excellent match as it is, but the rivalry needed some extra spice and it got it with this segment.

Throwing the chair was still clumsy and risky from Guevara but there seems to be some real anger from Hardy’s side.

The veteran could bring in his alter-egos into this clash, and it should make for good storytelling.
