MJF and Jon Moxley are to meet for the AEW World Title at All Out 2020
MJF has continued his war of words with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Maxwell Jacob Friedman has taken on Moxley and AEW as a whole as he hit out on the company.
In a scathing promo, the 24-year-old blasted AEW for not keeping their promise of pushing new talent and still banking on older stars.
AEW has been guilty of forgetting their roots as they have Moxley as their champion, who is a former WWE employee.
However, they have continued adding former WWE stars with Matt Hardy, Brodie Lee and Matt Cardona joining them in recent months.
MJF can be considered as one of the AEW originals, but he has never won the gold. The 24-year-old, however, seems to have gotten his shot at All Out 2020. After his excellent promo, it was confirmed that he would face Moxley for the title at the PPV.
Moxley won the title from Chris Jericho at Revolution and has not looked back. He has beaten Darby Allin, Brian Cage, Brodie Lee and Jake Hager to keep his title.
However, MJF wants to end his rule and hit out at the segment featuring Hardy and Sammy Guevara where Hardy was busted open.
MJF blamed Moxley for setting such standards and claimed such “barbaric acts” would not be allowed. He vouched for pure wrestling to take place, and MJF does have a point:
Guevara has faced a lot of heat for this segment which busted Hardy wide open. However, AEW is prone to letting their stars bleed in their matches.
Cody Rhodes and Moxley have been busted open several times. In a recent tag match, Ricky Starks back was attacked by Darby Allin. Allin used a skateboard filled with thumbtacks, and Starks ended up with a bloodied back.
It will be interesting to see MJF can usurp Moxley as the AEW Champion. Moxley has defeated all in front of him, but MJF could be a different test given how motivated he is.
