Chris Jericho will face Nick Gage in a singles match after his AEW debut
Nick Gage made a stunning debut during the Fyter Fest edition of AEW Dynamite on Night Two. His debut was well received by fans who will be eagerly awaiting his in-ring debut at AEW Dynamite next week.
Gage took to Twitter after the match to explain his decision and gratitude to fans, saying: (h/t Wrestling Inc)
“Thanks everybody. I got nothing new to say that i haven’t already told you. I do this s–t for my fans. It’s real. I got no family, you’re all I got left in this world [the] and only reason I’m still here. It’s GCW and MDK all f–king day, this one’s for the gang. I love you guys, let’s f–king go.”
Gage is a part of Game Changer Wrestling, where he is the current GCW World Champion. He is the only man to win CZW’s Tournament of Death, IWA’s King of the Deathmatch, and GCW’s Tournament of Survival. Nick Gage will have his debut at Fight For The Fallen – AEW Dynamite next week. Gage will face a determined Chris Jericho who is currently rivalling MJF.
The match between Chris Jericho and Nick Gage next week will now have a No Rules stipulation, after MJF’s announcement. Jericho’s ‘Painmaker’ gimmick brought him many plaudits during his time in NJPW.
Jericho agreed to MJF’s stipulation for the ‘Labours of Jericho’, where he faces different opponents in successive weeks before facing him. He now faces an uphill battle in Gage, but has to resort to this personality that brings out the best in his game.
Jericho has earlier admitted that Bruiser Brody was a heavy influence in the creation of his Painmaker character. Le Champion studied tapes of the legendary Bruiser Brody during the 30th anniversary of his death. Brody was famous for his wild and robust brawling style, which on occasion saw him legitimately beat his opponents to another point.
