The finals of the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation Men and Women’s Tournament took place at AEW’s latest pay-per-view Double or Nothing.
Adam Cole defeated Samoa Joe to win the Men’s tournament while Britt Baker pinned Ruby Soho to triumph in the Women’s tournament.
The tournament was named after the late, great Owen Hart, who lost his life after suffering a fatal accident while making a dramatic entrance from the rafters.
Interestingly, Cole and Baker are real-life couples. They embraced on the entrance ramp celebrating their wins. A great moment indeed for the couple.
Dr. Martha Hart made her way out onto the stage area and thanked everyone for the endearing reception. She awarded the couple with their new championships.
The roads to winning the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments for Adam Cole and Britt Baker
Adam Cole and Britt Baker had to defeat some of the best wrestlers in AEW to become the first-ever champions of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.
Britt Baker started her journey with a win over Danielle Kamela. Baker went on to beat Maki Itoh and Toni Storm to set up a date in the final with former WWE Superstar Ruby Soho. The former AEW Women’s Champion won the final by reversing Soho’s Victory Roll attempt with a pin.
As for former NXT Champion Adam Cole, he defeated the likes of Tomohiro Ishii, Dax Harwood, and Jeff Hardy to reach the finals. Cole had to defeat the rampaging Samoa Joe and he persevered to win the match after delivering The Boom.
