Hikaru Shida won the AEW Women’s title by defeating Nyla Rose
Japanese star Hikaru Shida won the AEW Women’s title at Double or Nothing by defeating Nyla Rose.
Rose had been a dominant champion and seemed set to retain her title. However, the No Disqualification stipulation worked in Shida’s favour.
The 31-year-old was able to use an array of weapons on Rose and captured her first AEW title since joining the promotion.
She was more than happy with the win and posed right after winning the title. However, it came at a cost.
The 31-year-old showed off some of her injury marks from the clash, and they looked brutal, to say the least.
Her back was red with bruises from the clash, and she even showed off a broken kendo stick, which was probably used in the match.
Shida also stated that her whole body was a wreck but this was her best night yet.
God….my whole body….🥶
That was hard last night, and was the best night.

What next for Shida?
The Japanese star came into the PPV with a lot of momentum. She was able to send Rose through a table prior to this clash, and that would have given her a big boost.
It will be interesting to see who could be next for Shida. Rose should get a rematch as she was the champion and that will be an incredible clash.
However, there are some other talented women on the AEW roster. Britt Baker has done an excellent job of being a heel and could get a shot if Rose isn’t keen.
Similarly, Kris Statlander has risen up the ranks in recent weeks, and the “Alien” has impressed a lot.
Shida certainly deserves to be the champ and doing so well since coming on AEW. The Japanese star could dominate the division too, much like Rose, and keep pushing her rivals to perform better.
