Cody and Brandi Rhodes are expecting their first child
AEW power-couple Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes revealed on social media that they are expecting their first child together.
The husband and wife have wrestled together since tying the knot in September 2013. They are now under contract at All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Cody Rhodes joined the promotion in November 2018 and Brandi followed shortly after.
Brandi Rhodes, in an interview with WrestlingInc in 2017, revealed that she was ‘into’ Cody from the get-go but was hesitant to go out with him because they were co-workers.
“I was very into him, but it took a while. It probably took around a month for me to go out with him, and after that… I feel that we ended up spending every day together; every day that we could.”
The two made the announcement on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday on TNT Network. The pair was shown decorating their house together for Christmas, followed by a knock on their door.
There was a box at their doorstep, and they opened it to find baby shoes inside it alongside a wooden ornament which announced that the couple was expecting their first child in 2021.
Brandi Rhodes could not wait to share this incredibly happy news with her fans as she tweeted to let the world know about her pregnancy with Rhodes.
AEW and TNT were quick to congratulate the couple, and there was a special message from former WWE star Renee Pacquet.
Pacquette, who called quits after an 8-year stay at SummerSlam 2020, congratulated the couple on social media.
Pacquette, who herself announced her pregnancy in November 2020, made a sly remark following the announcement.
“All I’m saying is in 20 years, the wrestling talent pool gonna be looking good!!”
She predicts that the AEW couples’ child and her own kid will be professional wrestlers by 2040. Only time will tell if her prophecy is true; we certainly hope that it is!
There are other wrestling couples with children on the way too. Becky Lynch is pregnant with Seth Rollins’ child while Sarah Lowe and Erik are also expecting their first child.
Media Referee extends its heartiest congratulations to Mister and Misses Rhodes, and of course, Renee Paquette.
