Jon Moxley was handed a brutal beating at AEW Revolution
AEW superstar Jon Moxley took on reigning AEW champion Kenny Omega in the main event of AEW Revolution last weekend.
The ‘exploding barbed wire deathmatch’ was as extremely brutal for Moxley as the name suggests. Omega hit a One Winged Angel through a chair to finish off the contender.
But that was not where the action ended. Moxley was tied up after the bell and brutally beaten by Omega and The Good Brothers.
And during this, Moxley’s wife, Renee Paquette, reacted on social media. The former WWE employee was shocked at the beating handed to the husband of her children.
Her contract at one time with WWE at one time probably prevented her from being too expressive about the AEW main event.
Nevertheless, fans knew what she meant. The match also had another viral moment that caught fans by surprise.
In what was an embarrassing ending to a great fight, a big explosion planned for the end with Moxley still inside the ring was botched.
Moxley was lying in the ring and Eddie Kingston was supposed to cover him and shield him from the explosion inside the ring.
That happened, but to an underwhelming display of pyros. Moxley did try to cover it up later by making fun of the perpetrators for setting up a weak explosion, but the damage was done.
Nevertheless, it was a great fight. The violence was a bit on the extreme side, but it was nothing Moxley hadn’t taken before in his career.
If there was a man suited for this fight next to Omega, it was him
