Ric Flair might be heading to AEW after being recently released by the WWE
On the 3rd of August, 2021 WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was released from the WWE. In fact, it was “The Nature Boy” who had asked for his release and was granted the same by the promotion.
He was a part of the promotion for almost 30 years, after having made his debut in 1991.
Following his release Flair released a statement clarifying that there was no hard feelings between him and WWE, and that he was leaving on good terms only.
The 16-time world champion is 72 years old currently, and does not appear to be showing any signs of slowing down.
However, since 2012 he has been appearing as a non-wrestling personality.
There is a recent rumour doing the rounds that Flair might be headed to AEW.
According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ric Flair might be joining Tony Khan’s promotion- AEW.
With more and more former WWE Superstars, especially the ones who are released, joining AEW, it shouldn’t be a big surprise if Flair joins them too.
It is also believed that Flair would join AEW only when he become legally eligible. The usual non-compete clause for WWE is 90 days.
Flair’s non-compete clause would get over by November 1 (only if it is a 90-day clause), which falls on a Monday.
It is still unclear as to what role Flair would be handed – Non-wrestling managerial role or the role of a proper wrestler.
