Speculations of Ric Flair signing with AEW have been rife ever since his release from WWE
On the 3rd of August, 2021 Ric Flair was released from the WWE after it was reported by Wrestling Inc. a day earlier that he had asked for the same.
The two-time Hall of Fame Inductee had been a part of the promotion in a non-wrestling role for almost 9 years.
Rumors of bad terms with WWE head honcho began doing the rounds. However, Flair quashed the same claiming that he had left the company on his own terms.
Speculations of ‘The Nature Boy’ signing with AEW were all over the place. In fact, they still are.
More recently, Flair took to Twitter to clarify his stance on signing with Tony Khan’s promotion. He also made it clear that McMahon wasn’t the reason why he left WWE.
Flair clearly stated:
“Just Having Fun And Sharing Memories Does Not Imply I’m Looking For A Job! I Left One Great Company & It Wasn’t Because Of @VinceMcMahon! And I’m Not Going To Work For Another Great One, And It’s Not Because Of @TonyKhan! It’s As Simple As That.”
Ric Flair teases a pairing with CM Punk
Prior to making his stance clear on signing with AEW, Ric Flair had teased a teaming up with CM Punk in AEW.
Posting a picture of himself and CM Punk with their hands aloft back during their time in WWE, Flair wrote:
“Never Forget This Moment… We Can Make History Again Brother! If You Want A Rating, Let Us Talk For 10 Minutes! @AEW@CMPunk.”
