Ricardo Rodriguez might be headed to AEW as a member of the Spanish announce team
It has recently been reported that Ricardo Rodriguez has given a tryout of the Spanish announcement team of AEW. Rodriguez was present during this week’s AEW Dynamite at the Agganis Arena in Boston. He was joined with Alex Abrahantes and Alvaro Riojas.
As per reports the tryout has went well and there are positive signs for Rodriguez that might lead up to him being signed by the AEW. However, it was just a tryout and there has been no confirmation as of yet by the company for the announcer as now. It is also expected that Rodriguez will be using his real name Jesus Rodriguez as he did in the tryout.
Why was Ricardo Rodriguez released by the WWE?
Before becoming the ring announcer for Alberto Del Rio in WWE, Rodriguez was a wrestler himself. He was brought in by WWE in 2010 as a personal ring announcer for the former WWE world heavyweight champion.
However, his reign in the WWE did not last very long as he was released by the WWE on July 30th, 2014. Rodriguez played a vital role Del Rio’s gimmick during his time in the company.
Since leaving WWE he returned to the Independent Circuit and went back to his wrestling background as well though it did not last for very long. If he does get signed by AEW it will be interesting to see him take up the role of a Spanish commentator as Rodriguez happens to be a very good announcer.
