Dean Malenko had some great words for Ricky Starks and a few other AEW stars
Dean Malenko has seen it all and wrestled it all during his career. While he had been associated with WWE for close to 19 years, Malenko made his name in other promotions.
He also wrestled in Japan and learned a lot during his time in the Asian country. Malenko is now with AEW and was speaking on the Talk is Jericho podcast.
The wrestling legend opened up on his battle with Parkinson’s disease and explained to viewers what actually happens to the body in all this.
This hasn’t stopped Malenko from doing his duties for AEW and he shared a few insights as well. From talking about Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix to working with Vince McMahon, Malenko has seen it all.
Jericho, who also left WWE to join AEW, asked Malenko which stars could take the company to another level.
Malenko first spoke about how he was in a bubble during his WWE career as an agent but things opened up once he got to see some of the other guys wrestling.
While AEW has some incredible talents, Ricky Starks was a name that Malenko brought up and thought he could have been working with McMahon:
“I am so impressed with Ricky Starks. Where has this guy been?
“This guy should have been working for Vince 10 years ago.”
Ricky Starks is like The Miz
Malenko went on to compare Starks to another top talent in WWE. The Miz is the only two-time WWE Grand Slam champion and he seemed to be similar to Starks:
“He should be by himself, that kid is money. He is so confident in the ring, and he is a guy that you walk into a bar and you go ‘That looks like a d***’.
“Like Miz. That’s how Miz got over and Miz busted his a** and he works hard.”
The Miz wasn’t a popular star when he first came into WWE. He was a heel and well, had to work extremely hard to get into the business after a few rejections.
However, The Miz has won several titles during his WWE career and always gives it his all in the ring and outside of it.
Malenko also lauded talents such as Jungle Boy and Darby Allin, who both are young rising stars on the AEW roster.
