Sammy Guevara sets lofty targets for second year on AEW after Cody Rhodes comments

Cody Rhodes wants to see more from some AEW stars and Sammy Guevara is ready to go for the gold

AEW star Sammy Guevara is one of the brightest talents in the wrestling world. Apart from some comments he made on Sasha Banks a while back, Guevara seems to be getting things right.

He did apologise for the remarks on The Boss and even served a suspension, but his wrestling skills are great.

Guevara is young, working with Chris Jericho and is on a promotion that regularly pushes fresh faces. He is currently in a huge battle against the veteran Matt Hardy and is to face the Woken One in an Elite Deletion match at Full Gear.

Ahead of that clash, Cody Rhodes, one of the top dogs in AEW posted a promo about what to expect from AEW.

Cody has always spoken about wanting to see more from some names, and called out Guevara, MJF, Darby Allin and Britt Baker.

The American Nightmare claimed that they aren’t year one rookies any more and Guevara seems to have accepted the challenge.

The Spanish God sent a warning of sorts and suggested he was going to win all the gold on AEW.

While Guevara has had some dangerous spots against Hardy, he is still learning his trade and will grow as a competitor.

The 27-year-old is yet to win a title on AEW but that could change after Full Gear 2020. AEW has a few titles up for the grabs with the Tag titles, TNT title and the AEW World Title all being defended on Full Gear.

Cody is the current TNT champion while Jon Moxley has held the AEW title since defeating Chris Jericho a while back.

Guevara, Allin and MJF are three of the youngest and brightest marks in AEW, and it should be their time to shine next year.

Guevara could also try to take the FTW title from Brian Cage, though that hasn’t been defended much since Taz handed it over to Cage a few months back.
