Wrestling veteran Sting praises former company

The Icon Sting is one of the all-time legends in professional wrestling. The longevity of his career and being at the top of his game all the while is incredibly commendable.

Sting (AEW)

Sting was one of the biggest names in WCW. The WWE Hall of Famer had once made an entrance at WCW Nitro from a helicopter. That is still one of the coolest entrances in all of sports entertainment.

Sting is 62 and still going strong. At AEW Revolution, Sting shocked the world by performing a gravity-defying move. He would go into the crowd and dive off a top section in the area and come crashing on Andrade and through the tables.

AEW Revolution saw some exhilarating matches with some jaw-dropping sequences but this moment from Sting stole the show.

At the post-AEW Revolution Media Scrum, Sting would answer questions regarding comparisons between WCW and AEW. “The Franchise of WCW” he stated that his time in WCW was the best for him as far as wrestling is concerned. This hinted at WCW being better than AEW in terms of wrestling according to the legend.

Sting said:

I think it starts from the top and works its way down. We had a period of time with WCW where Eric Bischoff came on board and Hogan, Hall, Nash, the nWo, Buff Bagwell, Lex Luger, The Steiner Brothers, Big Poppa Pump. But everybody was pointing in the same direction, and marching to the same beat for about a year. Maybe 18 months if we are lucky. And that was the best time ever in wrestling for me.”

Sting is all praise for Tony Khan

The President of AEW received a lot of adulation from Sting. The Icon would call him “a giver” and “a people’s coach” saying he cares about his talent and gives respect to everyone working for him.

Sting said:

But with WCW— and it started with Eric and worked its way down — with AEW, it’s Tony Khan telling you he’s a people person. I watch him talk with the grips, moving cable around, and he really cares about his talent and treats everybody with respect. He’s a giver, you know? So, he’s like a player-coach almost, you want to perform for the guy.”

Sting has been wrestling in AEW and he hasn’t lost a step. He has taken the impressive Darby Allin under his wing and the two form a formidable tag team. This week on AEW Dynamite they came to Matt Hardy’s aid when Andrade and the rest of the AHFO faction voted him out and started beating him up.

Sting and Allin would still be outnumbered but Jeff Hardy came to the ring, making his AEW debut, and helped them overcome the odds.
