Following a date clash with UFC 268, AEW President Tony Khan has made a kind gesture to friend Dana White
AEW has been raking in massive viewership in recent times. Every week, the pro-wrestling promotion sees a new big star debut – notably CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole.
The 5th of September saw AEW go ahead with the third instalment of AEW All Out. The PPV was a big hit, with many fans calling it the best PPV in modern times.
Now that more viewers are tuning in to watch AEW’s events, they are in the big leagues now.
AEW has AEW Full Gear coming up in November. And the currently announced date collides with UFC 268 – a blockbuster UFC card that features the likes of Kamaru Usman, Justin Gaethje, Rose Namajunas and Colby Covington.
Following the conclusion of AEW All Out, Tony Khan revealed that he will not be going ahead with the event on the 6th of November since UFC President Dana White is a very good friend of his.
He instead said that it would happen a week later.
Here is what Khan had to say: (As reported by Marc Raimondi)
“AEW president Tony Khan says Dana White is a “very good” friend of his and he didn’t want to go head to head on PPV with UFC 268 on Nov. 6. AEW Full Gear will be the weekend after the UFC’s MSG show.”
UFC 268 features two title bouts
UFC 268 will be taking place at the Madison Square Garden on the 6th of November.
The event will witness two title fights. The main event will be a welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman, the champ, and Colby Covington. A rematch two years in the making.
The co-main event will feature a rematch as well – a women’s strawweight title fight between Rose Namajunas and Zhang Weili.
