Former WWE star Tony Nese could have signed a deal with AEW
Tony Nese, who was earlier a part of the WWE roster, is all set to join AEW. It was pretty clear when he made an appearance on the show. He was highlighted in the crowd during the opening match between Bryan Danielson and Dustin Rhodes.
“The Premier Athlete” has already signed a contract with AEW, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t ewrestlingnews.com)
AEW has yet to release a Tony Nese graphic to confirm the signing. In addition to that, the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has worked in AEW Dark television at Universal Studious in Orlando, Florida, where he made his in-ring debut for the company.
Nese was released for WWE in June earlier this year. However, his non-compete clause with WWE ended last month, and now he is set to perform for AEW.
In one of the Tweets, Tony recently mentioned who he is looking like a possible opponent for him, and it’s none other than Adam Cole.
Contemplating my next move.
Tony won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship one time by defeating Murphy in the cruiserweight tournament final. His reign was 77 days when he lost his title in a triple threat match involving Drew Gulak and Akira Tozawa.
Nese was a part of the 12 Superstars that WWE released subsequently.
