Shaquille O’Neal is set to appear on AEW Dynamite
AEW has announced that NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal will be appearing on Dynamite on Wednesday, 9th December.
O’Neal will address AEW alongside Tony Schiavone on Dynamite this week on TNT.
The promotion dropped a hint about O’Neal’s arrival a few weeks ago. Jade Cargill, the AEW newcomer, confronted Cody Rhodes for calling himself AEW’s ‘Giant Killer’.
Cargill said that the NBA icon was the ‘real star’ as she engaged in a verbal spat with Brandi Rhodes shortly after she made her exit.
This is another big announcement by the promotion after they broke the internet with Sting’s debut on ‘Winter is Coming’ recently. Sting returned to TNT after 18 years and the 61-year-old shocked the arena and fans worldwide with a marvellous entrance.
There is no indication by the WWE on how they plan to use the 4-time NBA Champion, but pitting O’Neal and Cargill against Cody and Brandi Rhodes looks like the most obvious scenario for now.
Fans on social media were left stunned after the promotion tweeted a confirmation of the 7’1″ NBA icon’s appearance.
Wrestling fans all over the world reacted to the news in a largely positive way and were flabbergasted.
It is obvious that the brand has signed O’Neal for the ratings he will bring. The NBA legend has a massive reach in terms of audiences.
He can single-handedly boost Dynamite’s ratings if the promotion for the event is done in a proactive manner.
While O’Neal is obviously not a professional wrestler, his frame and physique will make him an enigmatic presence in the ring as well.
