Taz is a former FTW champion and brought the title back on AEW recently
Former WWE and ECW star Taz was pleased to share plans for the FTW title as AEW was preparing for a historic title defence.
Taz was the first to win the title during the days of ECW and the only other winner was Sabu. ECW then unified this belt with the ECW title and the last we had seen of the belt was in 1999.
However, Taz brought out the title from retirement with Brian Cage being handed the gold. Cage is Taz’s latest client on AEW and the beast has looked great ever since he came on the promotion.
While the FTW title was seen as an alternative to the main ECW title, it also represented the bad-a** nature of Taz perfectly.
The Submission Machine brought it back for Cage and confirmed that the title would be defended on AEW Dynamite too:
“FTW Championship has always been renegade, antiestablishment & unconventional. That has never changed & that will never change.”
Taz is also one of the most active AEW members on Twitter and has answered a lot of queries on Twitter.
One fan questioned the legitimacy of the title and suggested it wasn’t a real one. However, Taz shot back by sharing a few questions on how the title is actually real:
It will be interesting to see what sort of plans AEW has for the title. They already have the AEW World Title and the TNT title for their top singles stars to fight for.
WWE, their main rival, has several titles too but the promotion has three main brands with their roster split up.
Nevertheless, it is great seeing the FTW title back on AEW and hopefully, we get some quality matches too.
