Wrestling fans slug it out online as Jon Moxley is PWI’s best wrestler over past year

Jon Moxley is the current AEW World Champion and was named as the best wrestler by PWI

PWI shared its list of the top 500 wrestlers in the world and named Jon Moxley at the top.

The AEW star is the current champion on the promotion and got the belt from Chris Jericho more than a year back.

Moxley was one of the biggest wrestlers to join AEW from WWE, and he has featured in some of the best matches of the year.

AEW certainly got a star in their ranks, and Moxley is paying them off. He has defeated Brian Cage, Jake Hager and Brodie Lee to keep his title.

His next battle is against MJF and it will be interesting to see what happens in that clash at All Out. Moxley was one of WWE’s best performers too and was in the top 10 in 2016 and 2017.

However, this is a huge step up for him and AEW must be pleased with the other results too.

Some fans aren’t sure of Moxley coming out on top

Moxley came first while Chris Jericho was third. Cody Rhodes was the other full-time AEW star that made the top 10.

WWE had some great representation too with Adam Cole and Drew McIntyre coming second and fourth, respectively.

Cole had been great as the NXT champion and only recently lost the title. McIntyre, for his part, won the 2020 Royal Rumble and defeated Brock Lesnar to win the title.

Seth Rollins, Kofi Kingston and AJ Styles made the final three in the top 10. While Moxley has been excellent on AEW many fans questioned how he got ahead of Cole.

McIntyre also had an excellent year as he capped off a magnificent return to WWE and that led to several fans criticising the decision to name Moxley as the best.
