Brodie Lee had won titles on AEW and WWE but passed away due to a lung issue
The wrestling world lost another rising star prematurely in 2020 as AEW star Brodie Lee was taken away.
Lee left WWE and signed for AEW in 2020 and had joined the Dark Order. The 41-year-old won the NXT and SmackDown tag titles in WWE and also the Intercontinental title for the promotion.
However, he was underused during his final run and a move to AEW saw him battle for top honours again.
He won the TNT title but lost it in October 7 2020. Lee made a few more appearances before he was taken off TV and his health condition could have been one reason for the same.
2020 has been hard of most of the world due to Covid-19 and wrestling has had many untimely deaths too.
Shad Gaspard was one case earlier in the year, and that had left many stars broken. Shelton Benjamin recently paid tribute to Gaspard during TLC 2020 and this is another death that has hurt people.
Lee’s wife, Manda Huber, also confirmed the shocking news and added that the Dark Order leader passed away due to an existing lung issue and it wasn’t Covid-19 related:
“My heart is broken. The world saw him as the amazing @brodielee (fka Luke Harper) but he was my best friend, my husband, and the greatest father you would ever meet. No words can express the love I feel or how broken I am right now. He passed surrounded by love ones after a hard fought battle with a non Covid related lung issue.”
She also posted thanks to all those who had been supporting her and AEW. AEW also posted the news on their social media feeds and added that Lee was now part of their family and they would take care of his wife and his two children.
The passing away of anyone before their age is painful, but Lee was a loved member in the backstage.
He was loved in every promotion that he joined and many WWE and AEW stars posted their tributes to Lee.
