Former WWE Champion Brock Lesnar could be heading to AEW
‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar is rumored to switch bases and make a shock move to AEW, as per reports.
Lesnar, who is currently a free agent has not appeared in WWE since his loss to Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 36.
The report from Wrestling Observer Radio, says: (h/t Wrestling Edge)
“In May, I was told that there four signings, two somewhat big and two huge. None of them were signed, but there was confidence that they would be signed. I knew two of them were Aleister Black and [Bryan] Danielson. I knew they were two that were being talked to that AEW really wanted. The other two were Punk and Andrade.
“As far as guys who fit the category who are also available and as far as giant names, there aren’t a lot who are free agents, I mean, who is there who is going to wrestler — these are going to be wrestlers, and I mean, it’s like CM Punk, Dave Bautista, Brock Lesnar. I knew it wasn’t going to be Dave Bautista, because he’s in Hollywood.”
Lesnar is one of the highest-paid wrestlers in professional wrestling, which means AEW will have work on their hands to bring him over. AEW is already scalped Malakai Black this year and are on a hunt to bring one of the biggest wrestling names to their brand.
Despite Lesnar not under contract with WWE, he has made a name himself with the company. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon is a big fan of Lesnar and will be disappointed to see him leave. Lesnar is also notable for ending the biggest streak in sports entertainment at WrestleMania.
With all the accolades and matches, Lesnar has created a dynasty in WWE and will have to retrace his steps in AEW. The young promotion is budding with a different identity, which could not suit Lesnar, but we’ll only know in time.
Lesnar has quit WWE in the past and him joining AEW could shift the balance between the two companies.
