New Year’s Smash was a great show as the AEW vs NXT ratings were won by Dynamite this week

AEW’s New Year’s Smash Night Two was a grand success, at least in terms of the ratings war with NXT.

The show featured a TNT title clash and also an NWA clash which saw Taynara Conti lose out to Serena Deeb.

However, the main talking point from AEW was seeing Sting come out and actually attack Ricky Starks.

This was the first time The Icon had gotten physical since signing for the show. Further, Darby Allin also kept hold of his TNT title despite being bloodied and busted open by the challenger, Brian Cage.

AEW had some other fun moments too with Miro winning his clash and challenging Orange Cassidy. The Inner Circle also had their problems while Jon Moxley attacked Kenny Omega.

NXT, for their part, had some matches of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Xia Li made another great appearance as she demolished an enhancement talent. The main event saw the Undisputed Era face off Breezango in a Dusty Rhodes Classic match.

However, Pete Dunne and Finn Balor also made appearances as Kyle O’Reilly was left nursing his jaw.

All this saw two action-packed shows. However, it was AEW that came out on top in all this.
