Alexander Volkanovski defeated Max Holloway in controversial circumstances to keep his UFC title
Australian UFC star Alexander Volkanovski was congratulated by Acting Minister for Sport Geoff Lee after he defeated Max Holloway to keep the title.
Volkanovski had won the UFC Featherweight title from Holloway at UFC 245 and defended it against the same opponent a few months later.
That clash at UFC 251 was controversial as he won it via a split decision. However, many in the UFC community, including Dana White, questioned the scoring and the judges.
Nevertheless, the Australian is still the champion and shared how proud he was after meeting with the Australian minister:
The 31-year-old is one of the best in the UFC world and carries a record of 22 wins and just one loss.
That loss came in the fourth fight of his career, and Volkanovski hasn’t lost a single fight since joining the UFC.
While. Alexander “The Great” now has a target on his back, he has been called out for a fight by a former champion.
Henry Cejudo is a two-division former UFC champion and he shocked the world by retiring from the sport after a title defence.
However, the former Bantamweight champion and Flyweight champion has spoken about winning a third belt in the UFC.
Cejudo has hit out at Volkanovski in the past and the Australian has followed suit. It will be interesting to see if a clash between the two takes place.
Cejudo has tried his luck in professional wrestling and also is targeting a boxing match. A clash between Cejudo and Volkanovski could be one of the fights of the year, but Triple C getting a straight title shot would be unfair to the other Featherweight stars.
