Alexander Zverev vs Karen Khachanov is the final of the Olympics 2020 tennis tournament in Tokyo and here is the live stream details and more
German Alexander Zverev will face Russian Karen Khachanov after a round of surprise wins for the pair in the semi-finals. Zverev looked down and out against World. No. 1 Novak Djokovic, but recovered from a set and a break down to stun the tennis world.
He won 59 per cent (16/27) of points on Djokovic’s second serve and attacked the Serb’s backhand on numerous occasions.
Khachanov beat Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-3 in a dominant display to reach his maiden final. This year’s Olympics guarantees a new Gold and Silver medalist with both reaching their first ever final.
Djokovic will be disappointed as he misses out on a Golden Slam and will look to achieve a calendar Slam ahead of the US Open.
The Serbian has won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year already. Zverev after the match said: (h/t Olympics.com)
“It seemed it was impossible to beat him at this event, so I’m very happy right now. But there’s still one match to go.”
“I know that he was chasing history, chasing the golden slam and was chasing the Olympics, but in these kind of moments me and Novak are very close. Of course I’m happy that I’ve won, but at the end of the day I know how Novak feels. I told him that he’s the greatest of all time, and he will be.”
Khachanov reached the 2021 Wimbledon semi-finals last month and is on course for a mega-showdown with the German.
The duo have faced each other 4 times with both sharing the spoils with 2 wins each. Khachanov has come back after losing to Zverev in St. Petersburg, Russia in 2016 and the Roland Garros in 2018.
The Russian secured back-to-back wins in at hardcourt events since then to even the head-to-head at 2-2. The fifth meeting is an absolute crucial one for both players, with their respective countries vying for a win.

The match will hopefully get a clearer weather than predicted ahead of the mouthwatering battle.
Zverev and Khachanov both posses a strong baseline game. Zverev will go into the match the clear favourite, but Khachanov has shown his presence in a final before. He beat Djokovic at Paris in 2018 to win his first ever Masters title.
The battle is going to be absolutely amazing to watch and is too hard to pick a winner now. The game will be decided on service percentage as well, with both racking up impressive numbers.
