Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards will finally take place in 2021 and Ali Abdelaziz wasn’t happy with the odds on offer

Khamzat Chimaev vs Leon Edwards was the headline fight for the final UFC event of 2020.

However, that fight have to be postponed after both fighters tested positive for Covid-19. The pair are to meet at UFC Fight night 185 in 20 January 2021.

Khamzat and Edwards both have been impressive for different reasons. The Swede has made a huge splash in the UFC and has won all his three fights with relative ease.

Edwards was set to become the contender for the Welterweight title but Covid-19 cut his chances of fighting in the USA and that allowed Gilbert Burns to take up that place.

Edwards was ranked #3 in the division and hasn’t lost since 2016 but he was removed from the rankings after he failed to accept a few fights.

All of that is in the past and many fans are looking forward to this clash. However, the odds don’t seem to be appealing to Ali Abdelaziz.

Chimaev needs better odds

Chimaev is one of the fastest rising stars in MMA and is undefeated in his career. However, he is up against one of the better fighters in the UFC and this should be his biggest test.

Jon Anik posted the odds for a few fights, including Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier. He also posted the odds for Chimaev vs Edwards and Abdelaziz wanted the Swede to be a favourite:

Chimaev is already a bit of a favourite for the clash, even though Edwards has more UFC experience, and it is to be seen if the odds swing further in his favour leading up to the battle.

This is going to be an excellent clash and it makes sense for Abdelaziz to push his fighter more. Chimaev might be undefeated in his career but he cannot take Edwards lightly at all.

Rocky might not have fought for over a year but he still is a dangerous man in the Octagon.
