She was born in Nice, France to Francis and Patricia Cornet. Cornet also has a brother Sebastien and both of them were encouraged by their parents to get involved in sports. Alize Cornet started playing tennis when she was just 4 years old. Her brother also played tennis but his success was limited. Sebastien decided to hang up his playing boots and became his sister’s agent. Cornet’s junior career was a good one as she won the French Open girls’ title in 2007.

The French Open campaign began with wins against Misaki Doi and Jelena Ostapenko. However, in the third round, she had to retire after during her match against Qinwen Zheng.
In the Grass Court Championships Berlin, she lost her first match in the singles competition but progressed to the final of the women’s doubles event.
Her form got better in the Bad Homburg Open where she reached the semi-final before losing to Caroline Garcia in three sets. The Wimbledon followed and Cornet stopped the incredible run of world No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the third round. Cornet could not go beyond the round of 16 though.
