All Underdark Entrance Locations in Baldur’s Gate 3

Published by

It is advisable to be at least level 3-4 before venturing into different BG3 Underdark entrance locations.

During Act 1, the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 may seem big and full of adventures on the surface. The Underdark, however, is a strange and mysterious place that lies beneath this land that seems normal. The Underdark is full of unique NPCs, mesmerizing places, and interesting quests that are just ready to be found by brave adventurers.

But, you might ask, why go into the Underdark? Well, besides the fun of exploring, you need to get to the Underdark if you want to move on to Act 2 or go to Moonrise Towers without going through the dangerous mountain pass. In this guide, we’ll show you the four different BG3 Underdark entrance locations, so you’ll be ready for the journey. You can use builds like Shadowheart, Wyll, Minsc, and Minthara.

Different BG3 Underdark entrance locations

1. The Whispering Depths Dungeon

The Whispering Depths Dungeon is the first way to the Underdark that we will check out. It is right next to the Blighted Village waypoint. Adventurers need to go down into a nearby well to get inside. Once you get inside, you’ll have to deal with a lot of spiders, including the powerful Phase Spider Matriarch, who is thought to be the dungeon’s final boss. Those who are brave enough to face the Matriarch will learn a clever trick. As she walks around near a huge pit, travelers with the Feather Fall spell can jump down and land in the depths of the Underdark

2. The Defiled Temple

The second way to get to the Underdark takes us to the Defiled Temple, which is in Baldur’s Gate 3’s northwest Goblin Camp. You have to go through the Shattered Sanctum to get to this secret entry. But be ready to fight two monsters and a trader who are standing in front of a locked door. You can use stealth to get around the hurdles without being seen or fight the guards before opening the door. When you get inside the temple, a stone puzzle blocks your way to the Underdark. Solve it to open the door and go deeper into this strange underground world. Use Sildur’s Party Limit Begone mod, it expands the party limit.

3. Auntie Ethel’s Portal

Auntie Ethel’s Portal is an interesting way to get to the Underdark. Adventurers might find Auntie Ethel and her Teahouse in the bog area, which is at the bottom of the map. This door will only open if you make the right choices when you talk to Auntie Ethel. If you can get through her house without getting hurt by things like a man stuck in a tree or noxious gas pods, you’ll finally reach Auntie Ethel. Myrina was stuck in a cage above a pit. You had to beat her to free Myrina. Once Auntie Ethel has been defeated, use Feather Fall to get down into the pit and into the Underdark. Check out some companion builds of Astarion, Gale, Halsin, and Jaheira.

4. The Zhentarim Hideout Elevator

Next in the BG3 Underdark entrance locations is Zhentarim Hideout. It is through a small shed in Waukeen’s Rest, a town west of The Risen Road waypoint. To find this secret door, go past the burning inn in Waukeen’s Rest and look for a dead ox on the road under a covered bridge. Keep going north from the ox until you reach a shed whose doors are hidden by crates. When the crates are moved, a way to the hideout will become visible. Start a chat with the guards and use your conversational skills to get in. If you go underground, you’ll need to use lockpicking skills to move forward, including to open a closet.

As you move deeper into the hideout, your group will have to make a Perception check near a section of the rock wall, right below where Zarys and other members of the hideout are standing. If you pass this test, an imaginary door will open. Step through it, and then use your lockpicking skills again to turn on the lift. This will let you into the mysterious depths of the Underdark. With good build, you can solve puzzles and survive the Underdark or other quests.

The Wonders of the Underdark

Gameplay

Once you’ve made it into the Underdark, you’ll find a world full of wonder and danger. Here, you can check out the Mycanoid Colony, the Grymforge, the Adamantine Forge, the Arcane Tower, and many other BG3 Underdark entrance locations. But it’s important to be ready, because the people who live in the Underdark can be tough enemies. We suggest getting to level 3 or 4 before you start your journey to make sure you’re ready for the challenges. If you want to increase your level XP then use the Increased Level XP mod.
