A transplant helped him get back on the court but his time with the Nets did not end well. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors, who decided to buy him out of his $9 million contract.
Mourning made a short return to Miami and played for three-season to register the highest points scored by a single player in the franchise’s history. In 2009, he returned to hold the position of Vice President of Player Programs and Development for the Heat.
