Conor McGregor isn’t taking chances with his health and training routine after the coronavirus outbreak.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared that the coronavirus is a pandemic, and several countries are shutting their borders in hopes of keeping the virus in check.
The UFC has also taken matters seriously and Dana White confirmed that all future fights will take place behind closed doors.
Fans will not be attending any of these clashes but will receive a full refund for any tickets bought. The matches will also be broadcast around the world, while some UFC bouts could see fans, depending on the situation.
McGregor hasn’t been in action since defeating Donald Cerrone, and posted a long update regarding the virus.
The Irishman spoke about all the efforts from the Irish authorities to contain the coronavirus and highlighted how important hygiene is at the moment.
McGregor also spoke about limiting handshakes, but the important part was of his training.
The Irishman claimed he would work too hard and catch colds and the flu, thanks to his training:
“I’d train my ass off, to the point of low immunity. It’s inevitable with the intensity of the training. The immune system will be tested. I would float around in this manner, and always end up catching little colds and flus.”
However, the former UFC Lightweight champion, confirmed that he was fine and raring to go.
In the latter part of his message, McGregor confirmed that one of his aunts had passed away.
However, due to the coronavirus, the UFC star could not travel from the US. He was about to go live on a show when the call came, and the former champ couldn’t complete his commitments.
This is a difficult time for everyone and maintaining good hygiene has to be the main priority. Things need to be controlled and hopefully, the condition around the world will improve soon.
