Amanda Anisimova started playing tennis at the age of 5. Pretty soon, she started playing junior tennis. And by 2016, Anisimova declared herself professional.

In her junior tennis career, Anisimova achieved quite the success. She had a career-high ITF junior ranking of No. 2 in the world in 2016. She also won the prestigious Grade A tournament Abierto Juvenil Mexicano at age 14. Anisimova then went on to win the Grade 1 Copa del Café and even reached the final at the Grade A Copa Gerdau.

In the Junior French Open, Anisimova finished runner-up. At the age of 15, Anisimova won the Grade 1 Yucatán Cup and the Grade A Copa Gerdau. Next, Anisimova won her first Junior Grand Slam title at the US Open. She also won the 2017 Junior Fed Cup.

After turning pro in 2016, Anisimova played her first professional tournament at the 2016 US Open qualifiers. She then played a $25K event in Curitiba. Anisimova in the Curitiba event managed to reach her first pro tour final.

Anisimova’s WTA Tour main-draw debut was at the 2016 Miami Open, where she, unfortunately, couldn’t perform well. Next, Anisimova reached back-to-back finals at the $80K event in Indian Harbour Beach and the $60K event in Dothan, Alabama. The results of these two events helped Anisimova enter the top 300 of the WTA rankings.

Anisimova made her Grand Slam debut at the 2017 French Open. Sadly, she lost in the first round. After this, Anisimova continued to play on the ITF Pro Circuit. Soon she won her first career professional title at the $60K event in Sacramento, California. This win also helped her crack the top 200 world rankings.

In 2018, Anisimova continued to play well. She had decent results in the Indian Wells and the Miami Open. Her results helped Anisimova reach a then career-high ranking of No. 128 in the world.

After not playing due to injury, Anisimova returned to tennis at the 2018 Silicon Valley Classic. She then reached the third round of the 2018 Cincinnati Open to return to the top 150 rankings. Anisimova next played in the Japan Open. In the Japan Open, Anisimova advanced to her first career WTA final. Sadly, in the final, she lost against Hsieh Su-wei. With the final appearance, Anisimova entered the top 100 rankings for the first time.

In 2019, Anisimova advanced to the fourth round of the 2019 Australian Open. Anisimova then played in the Copa Colsanitas in Colombia. She went on to win her first WTA title at the Copa Colsanitas.

Next, Anisimova played the semifinal at the 2019 French Open. She lost the semifinal against Ashleigh Barty. Anisimova’s French Open result helped her rise to the ranking of world No. 26. Further, near the end of 2019 season, Anisimova reached the world ranking of No. 21. This was her career-high ranking till date.

The year 2020 and 2021 was not a great year for Anisimova. She lost form and couldn’t perform well. In most of the tournaments, Anisimova made early-round exits. Her performance affected her rankings and she was soon out of the world top 75.

In 2022, Anisimova started the season at the Melbourne Summer Set 2 and made the final. She won the final by defeating Aliaksandra Sasnovich, thus winning her second WTA title. Then at the 2022 Australian Open, Anisimova reached the fourth round. Her Australian Open results helped Anisimova reach world No. 41 on 31 January 2022. Anisimova is currently ranked world No. 25 in the singles category.
