Amar’e Stoudemire has an estimated net worth of $70 million. The former basketball player is not just an athlete but a businessman as well. He has made shrewd investments in his career including owning a major part of Hapoel Jerusalem B.C, an Israeli basketball team.
He launched his first line of clothing through Macy’s in 2011 and also signed a deal with Scholastic to write children’s stories. Stoudemire sold his mansion to rapper, Rick Ross in 2021 for $3.5 million. He made around $167 million through his NBA contracts with his most lucrative deal recorded at over $23 million.
In 2014, Stoudemire purchased a farm in Hyde Park, New York. He also owned an apartment in Greenwich Village atop where he got married to Alexis Welch. The farm spans across 185 acres with a 2000-square foot cabin to house the family during holidays and weekends.
Amar’e Stoudemire bounced around quite a few high schools due to his parents’ divorce and did not have the experience of playing organized basketball until 14. He missed his junior year of basketball but averaged 29.1 points, 15 rebounds, 6.1 blocked shots, and 2.1 steals per game in his senior year which got him into the University of Memphis. He chose not to go to college and declared for the NBA draft in 2002.
The Phoenix Suns drafted him 9th overall in the first round. They recognized a star and got exactly that in Stoudemire. The Florida-born centre averaged 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game in his first season and won the NBA Rookie of the Year award. He was brilliant in his early years in the NBA before a serious knee injury stumped his growth. In 2005, he suffered cartilage damage and then was forced to wear goggles for the rest of his career due to an eye surgery in 2008.
Stoudemire opted out of his contract with The Suns and signed for The Knicks in 2010. He joined hands with Carmelo Anthony to give New York a fresh sense of belief. He showcased his abilities well in the 2010-11 season but Stoudemire could not escape his fitness problems. Eventually, he got dropped to the bench and bought out of his sizeable contract.
The NBA big man had already peaked with 6 All-Star appearances and 5 call-ups to the All-NBA team. He spent the last days of his NBA career in Dallas and Miami before moving to Israel and joining Hapoel Jerusalem. In his final year, Stoudemire helped Maccabi Tel Aviv win the championship while also nabbing the Israeli Basketball Premier League Finals MVP honour.

Stoudemire was raised a Baptist but maintains a close relationship to his Jewish faith through his mother. He visited Israel during his playing years and met with Israeli president, Shimon Peres.
