Championship Team of The Week after gameweek 20
The Championship endured yet another exhilarating week. West Bromwich Albion registered a thumping 5-1 win vs Swansea City while Derby County slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
There were some players who impressed and some did not, however. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the Championship team of the week after the weekend’s fixtures.
Team Of The Week
Kiko Casilla – Leeds United
The formidable goalkeeper kept his calm and maintained a clean sheet against a seemingly dangerous Hudderfield Town side, as Leeds bagged a win.
Nathan Ferguson – West Brom
Ferguson put in a dependable yet commanding display and played like an experienced campaigner for the Baggies.
Semi Ajayi – West Brom
The 26-year-old kept Sam Surridge at bay and thrived while doing a lot of defensive work for the pacesetters.
Djed Spence – Middlesbrough
Despite playing in his debut match, Spence ran the show at the back for the Teesside outfit, thus earning a place on this list.
Ezgjan Alioski – Leeds United
Linked up immensely well with Harrison and also put in a solid defensive shift. He also scored a screamer.
Jack Harrison – Leeds United
Another Leeds man on this list, it would be criminal to not include him after a sublime spell alongside Alioski in the midfield.
Conor Gallagher – Charlton Athletic
One might argue that he looked shaky in the first half but the Chelsea loanee looked like a different player after the break and created two of Charlton’s best chances.
Hayden Coulson – Middlesbrough
His pace and energy worked wonders for Boro while providing a reliable outlet down the flanks. A nippy performance, indeed.
Matheus Pereira – West Brom
The third West Brom man on the list, there seems to be no end to his swashbuckling attacking displays thus far. By far the best player in the Championship this season, Pereira put in yet another incredible shift for the Baggies.
Patrick Bamford – Leeds United
Despite getting a goal overruled, Bamford played marvelously as the target man and showed no signs of weakness.
Jarrod Bowen – Hull City
Bowen singlehandedly won a crucial game against Stoke City and scored 2 goals to bag all points for the Tigers.
