Anderson Silva is regarded as one of the greats of MMA and has a fantastic record in the sport

Like all good things must come to an end, the same can be said about Anderson Silva’s MMA career.
The Spider, as Silva is called, is a former UFC Middleweight Champion and considered as one of the greats of the sport.
Silva holds an MMA record of 34 wins and 11 losses with one no contest.
The Brazilian holds several incredible records and one that seems difficult to break is about his title reign. Silva held the Middleweight belt for 2,457 days, a UFC record, and that saw him win 16 consecutive fights.
The 45-year-old held the belt from 2006 to 2013 and was untouchable during that point. The Brazilian’s early life wasn’t easy as he didn’t a lot of money to spend.
However, Silva started learning capoeira, muay thai and taekwondo as a teenager. Silva made his MMA debut in 1997 and won a couple of fights before losing his next one.
However, that only seemed to spark a fire in him as he went on a crazy run soon afterwards.
Silva made his Japan debut at Shooto 2 and defeated Tetsuji Kato. The Brazilian then hopped between Brazil and Japan as he went on a nine-fight winning streak.
The Spider also made his debut for Pride during this streak and his second career loss came at the hands of Daiju Takase. Silva won the Shooto Middleweight title in all this and then started making appearances for Cage Rage.
He won the Cage Rage Middleweight title next and his UFC journey began after this.
The Brazilian made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 5 in 2006. He defeated Chris Leben in the UFC Middleweight title eliminator and started going on a winning streak then.
He won the Middleweight title from Rich Franklin at UFC 64 and then defeated the likes of Travis Lutter, Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin, Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia, Vitor Belfort and Stephan Bonnar.
Anderson reached a record of 33 wins and four losses after the win over Bonnar. However, things changed drastically for the Brazilian since then.
Anderson was shocked by Chris Weidman at UFC 162 as he lost the Middleweight title. Their rematch didn’t go the right way as the Brazilian’s leg broke while trying to kick his rival.
Silva made a winning return two years later against Nick Diaz but that fight was deemed a no-contest since both fighters tested positive for drugs.
Silva then lost to Michael Bisping and Daniel Cormier before picking up a win over Derek Brunson. He then lost to Israel Adesanya, in what can be considered as a changing of the guard and then got another loss against Jared Cannonier.
The Spider fought Uriah Hall last in October 2020 and lost an emotional battle.
There are no plans for Anderson Silva to fight next after his loss to Uriah Hall. The Spider has a record of 34 wins, 11 wins and one no contests, and it will be interesting to see if he makes a return to the Octagon after this battle.
