Predicted Aston Villa XI to face Norwich City in the Championship
Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw against Leeds United in the Championship last week and Dean Smith’s side have another crunch game coming up on Sunday when they play host to already-promoted Norwich City.
Villa’s brilliant run of form since the turn of the year has seen them secure a playoff spot and the Lions will be looking to end the season on a good note before they start preparing for the playoffs.
Norwich, on the other hand, confirmed their promotion to the Premier League with a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers last week but Daniel Farke’s side will be looking to get at least a draw from this game to beat Sheffield United to the Championship title.
Team News
Dean Smith has plenty of injuries to contend with heading into the final game of the season. Tammy Abraham (shoulder), Kortney Hause (hip), Orjan Nyland (Achilles tendon), Thomas Carroll (hip), Lovre Kalinic (knee) and James Chester (knee) are all ruled out due to injuries.
Anwar El Ghazi’s red card against Leeds has been rescinded and the Dutchman will be available to face Norwich on Sunday.
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Dean Smith
Predicted XI
1. Jed Steer (GK)
He made a brilliant stop against Leeds last week to earn his team a vital point and he is likely to continue in goal in the absence of Kalinic and Nyland.
2. Neil Taylor (LB)
The Englishman did a good job defensively last week and there is no reason why he should be dropped for this one.
3. Axel Tuanzebe (CB)
The Man United loanee dealt with everything that came his way against Leeds and supported Mings very well at the heart of the defence.
4. Tyrone Mings (CB)
The Bournemouth loanee has been a rock at the back for Villa since his arrival in January and the Lions will need him to cope with the threat of Teemu Pukki up front.
5. Ahmed Elmohamady (RB)
The Egyptian veteran defended his lines very well and made a positive impact going forward in his previous outing.
6. Conor Hourihane (CM)
He has been one of the mainstays of Villa’s midfield throughout the season and did his reputation no harm in the last game.
7. John McGinn (RCM)
The Scotsman covered every blade of grass against Leeds and contributed equally to both attack and defence.
8. Jack Grealish (LCM)
Villa’s star playmaker wasn’t at his best last week but he needs to deliver the goods in the crunch game against Norwich this week.
9. Anwar El Ghazi (LW)
The Dutchman made some mazy runs in the 1-1 against Leeds and Villa will need his energy and guile up front outclass Norwich.
10. Andre Green (RW)
The youngster put up a promising display last week and Smith should continue to rely on him.

11. Jonathan Kodjia (ST)
The Ivorian got a chance to lead the line last week in the absence of Abraham but he failed to impress. He might get another crack on Sunday against Norwich due to an injury crisis.
