The Tag Team stable of Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy are popularly known as “The Hardy Boyz”. This is because they have been champions numerous amount of times. They are one of the most popular tag team stables in WWE history But are they brothers in real life?
They are popularly known as The Hardy Boyz. Jeff and Matt Hardy are real-life brothers, and they are a professional wrestling tag team. They began teaming together in 1993 on the independent circuit. They won the NWA 2000 Tag Team Championship in NWA.
Hardy brothers are also the founding member of OMEGA Championship Wrestling, where they held the OMEGA Tag Team Championship. They signed contracts with WWF in 1997. In 2000 they made their new stable alongside Lita, Team Xtreme.
Team Xtreme is considered one of the greatest tag teams all-time in professional wrestling history. They are the only stable to hold WWE, WCW, TNA, ROH, RAW and SmackDown Tag Team Championship. WWE even named them the most remarkable tag team in WWE history.
The Hardy Boyz splitter as a team in 2002 after Jeff began a storyline with The Undertaker and Matt was relegated to work with Heat. In the storyline, Matt even attacked Jeff due to jealousy of Jeff getting opportunities, including a match for the Intercontinental Championship. Jeff was later released from WWE on April 22 for erratic behaviour, drug use, refusal to go to rehab, deteriorating ring performance, and constant tardiness and no-showing events.
On August 4, 2006, Jeff rejoined WWE on its RAW brand. Matt and Jeff teamed up for the first time together over the years as members of Team DX at the Survivor Series. Both brothers appeared in Impact more frequently from 2014 to 2017. They again returned in WWE, winning the Raw Tag Team Champion at WrestleMania 33.
In 2019, they won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. That was the last time they were together at WWE. Matt’s contract expired in March 2020, and he went to AEW soon after. They have held seven tag team champions from seven different companies simultaneously, including the ROH World Tag Team Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
The Hardy Boyz gained fame from innovative moves from ladder matches. Overall they are 12-time world tag team champions between WWE, TNA and ROH.He and his brother Matt wrote the autobiographical book The Hardy Boyz, a New York Times Best Seller.
