5th seed Francisco Cerundolo takes on Jaume Munar in the round of 16 of the 2023 Argentina Open on Thursday.

After winning his first match at a major in the Australian Open, Cerundolo made it to the quarterfinals of the Cordoba Open where he was the second seed. In Cordoba, Cerundolo received a bye into the second round where he defeated Federico Delbonis. In the quarterfinals, he retired while trailing 3-6, 0-3 to Federico Coria owing to a hamstring injury to his right leg.
Cerundolo recovered from the injury and won a tough battle against Yannick Hanfmann in the round of 32 of the Argentina Open. The match ended 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 in favor of the Argentine athlete. Cerundolo did not play his best game but he showed a lot of grit and determination to persevere.
Jaume Munar
The Spanish star came into the tournament having lost three matches this year and winning none. He faced defeats against Tallon Griekspoor in the Maharashtra Open, Laslo Djere in the ASB Classic, and Dalibor Svrcina in the Australian Open.
The 25-year-old managed to win his first match of the year in the round of 32 of the Argentina Open against Guido Pella of Argentina in two competitive sets 6-4, 7-5. Munar will hope to build on this win.
