6th seed Sebastian Baez locks horns with Serbian qualifier Dusan Lajovic in the round of 32 of the 2023 Argentina Open on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old lost in the round of 16 to Pedro Martinez after receiving a bye in the first round. Baez won the first set but couldn’t capitalize on the lead. In the ASB Classic, he lost to the talented Ben Shelton in the first round. A win eluded Baez in the Australian Open as he crashed out in the first round following a loss to Jason Kubler.

The 22-year-old finally showed his class in the Cordoba Open. He managed to win the title by defeating the likes of Luciano Darderi, Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera, Hugo Dellien, and Federico Coria.

Dusan Lajovic

The 32-year-old played in the ASB Classic but he failed to make it to the main draw. He lost to Christopher Eubanks in the first round of qualifying. In the Australian Open, he lost to 20th seed Denis Shapovalov in the first round.

Lajovic won his first match of the season in the first round of the Cordoba Open against Juan Pablo Varillas. He exited in the round of 16 following a loss against Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Lajovic eased past Renzo Olivio and Felipe Meligeni Alves in the two rounds of qualifying for the main draw of the Argentina Open.
