The Argentine veteran began the season by playing in the ASB Classic. He faced Jenson Brooksby in the round of 16 but pulled out after losing the first set as he suffered an injury. Schwartzman returned to action at the Australian Open but lost to J.J. Wolf in the second round.

The 30-year-old entered the Cordoba Open as the top seed and received a bye into the second round. Juan Manuel Cerundolo produced a huge upset win to oust his countryman.

Bernabe Zapata Miralles

The 26-year-old lost to Roberto Carballes Baena in the opening round of the Maharashtra Open. In the first round of qualifying, Zapata Miralles went down to John Millman. The first win of the season still eluded the Spaniard in the Australian Open as he lost to Karen Khachanov in the first round.

In the first round of the Cordoba Open, Zapata registered his first win of the season against Carballes Baena. His run ended in the following round with a loss against Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera. Zapata Miralles got the better of compatriot Pedro Martinez in the first round of the Argentina Open to set up a date with Schwartzman.
