Why Arsenal should make a move for Bruno Fuchs

According to journalist Gustavo Fogaca via FCInterNews (h/t Daily Express), Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Internacional star Bruno Fuchs.

Having made his professional debut for Internacional in July last year, the 21-year-old centre-back has played 14 matches across all competitions this season.

It has been a breakthrough campaign for the young Brazilian in his maiden season for Internacional. He has made 10 league appearances and has featured four times for them in the Copa Libertadores tournament.

In his 14 matches for the Brazilian outfit, Fuchs has managed six clean sheets. This gives a clear idea of the talent that he possesses. His eye-catching displays saw the young defender earn a place in the successful Brazil youth side which won the 2019 edition of the Toulon tournament.

Having proved his mettle already for their under-23 national side, Fuchs now played a total of six matches for them so far. With Fuch’s on-field displays turning heads both at the club and international level, Premier League side Arsenal are now monitoring his situation.

Fuchs an excellent future investment for Arsenal

A weak and inconsistent defence had seen Arteta’s side slip to a lowly 9th in the rankings after conceding 36 goals from 28 league games.

Despite having David Luiz, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the side, Arteta had to bring Pablo Mari on loan from Fluminense in January after their continued failure at the back.

However, Mari is expected to return to his parent club at the end of this season. Also, there is uncertainty surrounding the future of veteran Luiz, whose current contract at Emirates set to expire at the end of this month.

Fuchs is a proven customer, having excelled in his first season for Internacional. Hence, Arsenal should soon make a move for Fuchs as he could prove to be an excellent future investment for the club if he fulfils his potential.

Verdict

Despite having enough centre-backs in their side, Arsenal have suffered terribly at the back this season. Moreover, with Luiz and Sokratis already past their thirties, roping in an upcoming talent like Fuchs will only make Arsenal stronger in the coming days. Also, Fuchs is still young and can develop further under the guidance of Arteta.
