Why Arsenal should make a move for Dominik Szoboszlai in the summer
According to a report from Football London, Arsenal are continuing to monitor the progress of RB Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai.
Having started his career with FC Liefering in the Austrian second division, Dominik Szoboszlai, 19, joined Red Bull Salzburg in 2017. He has impressed at RB Salzburg ever since, managing nine goals in 45 appearances. The teenager has played 25 times across all competitions this season, including six in Europe.
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s form has improved of late under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta. Following the 4-0 win over Newcastle United and a hard-fought 1-0 success away to Olympiakos in the Europa League, Arsenal have strung together three successive wins in all competitions for the first time since September.
The thrilling 3-2 victory over Everton took them up to ninth place in the table and with seven points now separating them from fourth place, a gateway to the Champions League is still wide open.
One of the players who has improved under Arteta is Mesut Ozil. The German playmaker has struggled for form over the last 18-20 months and he only broke his 10-month goal drought in the 4-0 victory over Newcastle.
However, Ozil is no longer the force he once was and even though he has shown flashes of returning to his old self of late, one cannot deny the fact that he is slowly entering the twilight of his career.
As Ozil has less than 18 months remaining on his contract, it would be wise on Arteta’s part to start searching for the German’s long-term replacement. Arteta does have younger options in talented academy kids such as Joe Willock and Emile Smith Rowe, but the Spanish tactician should add depth to his squad if his Arsenal team are to challenge for titles next season.
Having said that, the Gunners should make a move for Dominik Szoboszlai. The youngster’s versatility would be a huge asset for Arteta, who could deploy him on either flank or as a central midfielder. He has scored five times in 25 appearances across all competitions this term, which is a decent return from a central midfielder’s perspective.

Also, at the tender age of just 19, Szoboszlai has already represented Hungary eight times, scoring a goal. That simply speaks about the midfielder’s immense talent and potential.
Verdict
All in all, Szoboszlai could have a big role to play should a move to Arsenal goes through before the 2020/21 campaign kicks off.
