Why Arsenal should make a move for Olympiacos’ Mady Camara
According to Greek outlet SDNA (h/t The Sun), Arsenal are interested in signing Olympiacos midfielder Mady Camara this summer.
Mady Camara, 23, came through the youth ranks of Santoba FC in Guinea and moved to AC Ajaccio in the French second-tier in the summer of 2016. His impressive performances for AC Ajaccio earned him a move to Olympiacos two years later.
The Guinean international has been a vital player for the Greek giants in the last couple of two years. In his debut season, he produced an impressive tally of 6 goals in 24 league games. Camara has starred in Olympiacos’ midfield this season as well, most notably putting in solid displays against Arsenal in the Europa League.
In fact, he was a part of the Olympiacos team that knocked the Gunners out of the Europa League. That saw Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta demand the club’s staff for the midfielder’s detailed reports, the report adds. (h/t The Sun)
Arsenal are placed ninth in the Premier League table. Despite not tasting a league defeat under Mikel Arteta since the turn of the year, they have been inconsistent and have lacked creativity.
In the midfield, Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Dani Ceballos, Mateo Guendouzi, Joe Willock and Mesut Ozil are the options and the Gunners do have plenty of options. Yet, there are limitations in that position.
Ozil is 31 and looks past his prime, while Ceballos’ loan spell from Real Madrid ends in June. Torreira has endured an injury-hit campaign, thus failing to replicate the performances of his debut season at the Emirates.
To put things into perspective, Arteta needs to strengthen his midfield department ahead of next season and he would do a smart job by signing Mady Camara from Olympiacos.
Camara is a quality midfielder who has been a key player for Olympiacos since arriving at the club two years ago. He has made 39 appearances across all competitions this season, producing two goals and an assist. Overall, the midfielder has played 75 times for the Greek club, netting eight goals and registering three assists.

Most of the players in the Arsenal side are young and Camara would be a viable option to add quality to their midfield. At the age of 23, the Olympiacos star has all the abilities to succeed at a higher level if he continues to perform in the same vein of form.
Verdict
There are chances of Camara establishing himself at a higher level under the guidance of Arteta, given that he has shown his quality in Greece. Hence, Arsenal must secure the Guinean international’s signature in a bid to strengthen their midfield.
